The What If Factor

Due to weather, time, and my need to button up last years images, I am going to being going back to last years images and putting the What if Factor to use. So for the next week or coming weeks I may not be producing new images as much as looking to the past and making something new. I am feeling a bit arty and want to explore this a bit. The images may not be all winners but I am going to look at all that I have and either make something with it and print it or back it up and burn it to DVD and be done with last year. May be good for a chuckle so stay tuned.

Cool

Thanks for the shout out Jason and Mike!!

As Predicted

@ http://jasondmoore.com/blog/2008/01/29/redynamix-hdr-plugin/ , I am going to post more using ReDynaMix, I shot this last Summer on foggy day on Skyline Dr in Va. I always liked the composition, but did not like the lack of detail on the closer trees. A quick run through the plug in and some push and pulls on the sliders and there you have it. Some sharpening and this is a lot closer (with a lil kick) to the way I saw it when I shot it.

HDRish

So while cruising photo blogs on Friday I came across a link http://www.mediachance.com/plugins/redynamix.html . It a plugin for making single image, 8 bit depth HDRish images. Very easy to use, some cool BW, Sepia, Orton effects. So I ran a another shot I took while out on Connecticut Ave through it and this was the result. It was only $16 for the plugin and was faster then all other HDR type conversions that I have seen to date. Media Chance http://www.mediachance.com/ also has a standard HDR conversion and tonemapping program called Dynamic Photo HDR. Check it out if you have a few minutes.

No Lemonade Here

First try at something like this and its terrible. I am posting because I have no more time to work on today. Need to try F22 , and get a true black marble for reflection and shoot a whole lot more then 3 shots to try and get something that might resemble something interesting to look at.

Version 1.0

You can see the Winter version of this at http://www.jasondmoore.com/blog/. Today is the first installment for 2008 of Geographic Composition over at Jason's site. It was challenging to find winter on the day I went to shoot here in DC. It was close to 70 degrees.

4 Years

Olivia had her fourth birthday yesterday. She is the princess in this castle. The D300 focus tracking is incredible.

Connecticut Avenue

HDR, merged and tonemapped in Photomatix, Opened in Camera Raw, some minor tweaks, then opened in CS3, played around with some OnOne Phototools actions for final result. Shot thru the sunroof of the car at a red light. I really like the like the final result of this image.

Lunch at Bloomingdales

So I took Olivia out for a drive around the city yesterday in search of something to shoot for Geographic Composition that is due next week. We ended up on Conn. Ave so we dropped in on Mom at her store in Chevy Chase for a quick lunch. What a great day, the temp here in DC was close to 70. It is suppose to be warmer today, maybe a little exploring today also. I think a trip to the Corcoran might be a good destination for us http://www.corcoran.org/adams/. oops, just checked, the Gallery is closed on Tuesdays. Maybe tomorrow.

Just a quick snap (walking to the car) and quick fix in Lightroom.

New Frames

At the Kelby training in November I picked up the http://www.graphicauthority.com/ Photographers Edge and Artistic Expressions Bundles. Put under the tree for Christmas so I am just now getting a chance to try and use. They are ready made .PSD template that you can place your image into. Almost as cool as OnOne Pro Photo Tools. These you really need to have a final result in mind and the template's are for smaller output (8x10) (9x12) so far as I can tell. Easy to use, just place image and put it on the correct layer and turn off the layer highlighted in red.

Seneca School House Revisited

Was out yesterday and drove by the Seneca School House and took a quick snap. I posted a HDR image as my first post a couple months ago. http://mpalmerphotography.blogspot.com/2007/10/seneca-school-house.html

I used a Holga OnOne Preset with some tweaks for this result.

Inner Harbor Rock Scramble

Olivia under the lighthouse in Baltimore.

The computer is back up and running. I have a new strategy for my back ups so I have been putting my images on multiple drives, exporting catalogs, creating new catalogs for the new year so I did not put any images on it until this morning. It was a 55 degrees in Baltimore this past Sunday, great day for a stroll around the Inner Harbor.
