I took Julia for a lunch at Jaleo on Tuesday for Spanish Tapas. We had the Restaurant Week Special where you get to pick 3 Tapas each and a dessert for $20.09 each. This is the Sangria, Ensalada campera tapa & Sopa de cebolla y tomillo con queso Idiazábal. My favorite of everything we had was the soup and the poached egg underneath the crouton was especially nice. More to come...
Last night I went to the Photoshop User Group meeting at CDIA that Chris Alvanas hosted on HDR. I knew I had seen his work before, and after a little research this morning I found it in Nikon World Magazine. The PUG meeting was a 2 hour discussion on technique where Chris walked the group through his workflow and how he has achieved the best results for his work. Chris does lean a bit on the more illustrative type of HDR shots, but for effect. If you have followed my blog, you know I do like this effect. I did learn a new technique from him on using three layers with different blend modes that I will share another time, after I perfect. In the meantime go a check out his site. His HDR work is under the Edge menu.
The cloning of the drive took about 35 hours, and it seems likely that most of the drive has been successfully saved. I went straight to the file I knew was corrupt (my 2008 end of year export) and it was there. So I am going to pull off what I need and then run the recovery. Have a good day and hopefully you never need this software, but just in case.
After walking a block or two past Ben's, we went into Alero for a Buffet. They have a typical buffet that you might find at a Mexican restaurant. This was the highlight for me, couple fried eggs atop a bean tostada and some sauce for heat and wash it down with a Tecate! The Texan in me was very, very happy.
On Saturday, we took the kids to DC to try Ben's Chili Bowl and spend the day downtown. The line we encountered kept us walking down the street to seek out something quicker on U st. I know that it would have been worth the wait, but with the kids in tow, my first Ben's Half Smoke will have to wait.
Not shooting a lot lately, need to fix that! I need some inspiration.
Of course I made it to the National Zoo this past Sunday. The weather was perfect! Although I do like a bit more green in the shots.
After the basketball game we hopped in a cab and went over the the monument to meet some friends and walk around the mall.
The kids and I scored some free tickets to the Georgetown Hoyas basketball game this past Saturday. It was a close one, but they lost in overtime.
A quick portrait I did today at my appointment.
