Its Geographic Composition over at Jason D. Moore Photography and the theme was shadow. Not my most creative submission. I just blew the exposure and black sliders to max.
Also a friend has started a new blog, Daniel Glass Photography. I met Dan last year on the Adams Morgan PhotoWalk and we have kept in touch since. We met up again in October for some walking at Great Falls. If you have a minute, jump over and check it out.

Spies Like Us
Michael was out of school yesterday for a teacher work day. We went to the Spy Museum after we dropped Olivia at school. It was a good father and son day. As I am typing this, it is snowing and school is closed for today. I guess some snow action shots are in order!! See you tomorrow.

Lunch with Judy Davis in Adams Morgan
Yesterday, I met up with long time pal, Judy Davis of Haochlander Davis Photography. They just recently moved the studio they work out of to the heart of Adams Morgan. We ate at a Mediterranean place called Astor. I should have composed a bit better, that fork is killing me, but I was hungry and I did not chimp. I just took the shot, (D200 with 50 1.4) and went to business on the lamb kabob. Judy knew I was looking for images for the blog, so she offered to scare the pigeons on the street corner. She is in the purple jacket and sunglasses. Hopefully with a little more prodding I can get Judy to start a blog and share her FANTASTIC photography and tips on how to be one of the best architectural photographers in the mid atlantic region.

Green Avocado
For today's theme "Green" of Geographic Composition over at Jason D. Moore Photography. I am including the set up shot so you can see what I used to make the shot. I did some experimenting with the light and reflectors that I will share next week. Have a great weekend. Thanks for the nudge Jen.

Sorry in Philly, May 2008
Its just that time of year when you have to pull out of the archives to have a daily post. When I was picking images for the 2008 blurb book, this image of Julia in the distance worked, I like the contrast of the LARGE yellow Sorry piece compared to her for scale.

Test Steelers Shot
I was inspired this week by Scott over at Weekly Photo Tips with his set up for a Twilight shot. I was going to try something similar, and might still, but I choose to use the technique of using rim lighting in this sports shot. I used a WL Ultra 600 in a Medium soft box for main front @ F8, and used 2 SB800's Gobo'd with cardboard in manual mode at 1/4 power for the rim lights on optical slave mode. The background was a Chroma Blue pop up. I extracted Michael from the blue with Filter-Extract in CS3 (not upgrading to CS4) used a Faux Dave Hill Look Technique with some tweaks to fit this image.(You can find the REAL Dave Hill here.) Little Lucis Art on the jersey and pants. I did throw a curve in there also as well as the Friday Night Lights are from Istockphoto. I am going to tweak the lights a bit, move my rim lights up a foot or so to get more effect when I shoot next. Also want to get some grease for under the eyes and maybe a little vasoline and dirt for grim.
Those of you who know I am a bleed blue and silver guy, I am trying to raise Michael to LOVE football, not just a team. So I fully endorse and encourage the rooting for other teams, you never know, there may be a lesson in there for this old Cowboy fan.

Track Chicks Sweatshirts
I finished up the edits I did for Tracks Chicks yesterday and they are already up at the site. This is a screen grab from the site. If you check out the site, the shots I did have the high key white background.
For this shot I shot a model (wife) against a chroma blue background, I used a WL Ultra 600 in a med softbox right as a main and a WL Ultra 600 into a umbrella left for fill. I used select-color range to remove the blue and make white. She held the other jackets and I took swatchs off for the final edit.

Katten Ad for BISNOW
This is a screen grab of a ad that Katten Law made using a shot of mine in Georgetown.
I am hoping to have some new stuff soon, the weather is not the greatest right now, so I am having to pull some from last year for posts.

Teichberg Girls
This is the last of my holiday portraits that I did this year. It was a pretty successful considering it was all word of mouth with the local families in Potomac, MD.
Now to get finished on the Track Chicks project and set some goals for the coming year. Anyone that reads this ever use Craigslist as a marketing vehicle? I placed my first little ad yesterday. I know I need better copy, it was a bit of a test. From what I see, there are a ton of photographers out there willing to do a lot for a little. Your thoughts on local marketing ideas?
A HUGE Thanks for Jason of Canon Blogger for including me in his Best 8 of 2008 - I am honored to be in such company as Scott Kelby, Jeff Revell, Jason Moore, Strobist etc....
